What is payette river wildlife management area?

The Payette River Wildlife Management Area (PRWMA) is located in Southwest Idaho, USA. It is a 4,650-acre reserve established in 1946 to protect and enhance wildlife habitat, particularly for waterfowl, along the scenic Payette River.

The reserve is managed by the Idaho Fish and Game Department and is open to the public for hunting, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and other recreational activities. The area includes river access and several ponds, wetlands, and riparian areas that provide habitat for a variety of wildlife species, including mammals like mule deer, elk, and black bears, as well as birds like mallards, wood ducks, and Canada geese.

The PRWMA also supports rare and endangered species such as bald eagles, northern leopard frogs, and Columbia spotted frogs. The management of the area includes wetland management, prescribed burning, and wildlife surveys and research to ensure a healthy and sustainable ecosystem.

Visitors to PRWMA are required to follow all regulations and restrictions to protect and maintain the habitats and the wildlife in the area.
